Nose Sculpting

NuviCor MEWING device for restoring the nasal muscle

tone - Musculus Nasalis

Narrowing and Lifting of the Nose

As we age, the nose can appear larger and wider due to the weakening of the muscles surrounding it, such as the Nasalis. These muscles lose tone and volume, which results in less support for the nasal cartilage. Consequently, the nose broadens, and the nostrils may widen, impacting the overall aesthetics of the face.

The primary muscle responsible for narrowing the nose is the Nasalis (illustrated in Figure 1). This muscle compresses the nasal cartilage, thereby narrowing the nose, lowering the nasal wings, and tightening the nostrils.

To restore the tone and structure of the nasal muscles, targeted exercises involving repetitive contractions are essential. However, many individuals find it challenging to consciously activate these small, weak muscles without engaging other facial muscles. This is where the NuviCor MEWING device becomes essential, ensuring proper muscle activation while providing real-time feedback on the muscle's engagement.

How the NuviCor MEWING Device Works

The device is placed as shown in Figure 2, and users mimic the motion of drawing in a sharp, intense breath through the nose. This action activates the muscles in the nasal wings. Beginners may find it helpful to practice in front of a mirror before initiating the training.

By turning on the PREVIEW option in the NuviCor app (Figure 3), users can monitor their nasal muscle engagement on-screen.

A red bar moves up (B) and down (A) in sync with the muscle contractions, providing visual confirmation of proper activation.

Once confident in their ability to tense the nasal muscles, users can begin the structured exercises.

Training Sequence

Step 1: Calibration and Initial Test

Before starting the exercises, the NuviCor app conducts a test (Figure 4) to adjust settings based on individual capabilities.

The difficulty of the tasks is tailored for each user.

Exercise #1: Muscle Activation

  • Goal: Perform 5 cycles of tensing and relaxing the nasal muscles.

  • Visual Feedback: A blue graph (Figure 5) on the phone screen represents muscle activity. Each voice command prompts users to contract their muscles until the blue graph surpasses the red line.

  • Progression: The device automatically adapts to the user's ability, making the task easier over time.

After a 20-second rest, the cycle repeats several times. The session concludes with a results summary. Press the SAVE button to move on to the next exercise.

Exercise #2: Precision Training

This exercise does not require significant muscle force but focuses on precision and coordination. To perform it, you will need to:

  • Consistently align your muscle tension with the visual guide displayed on the screen.

  • The tension line, representing your muscle activity, must stay within the squares shown in Figure 6.

While this task does not demand strong contractions, it requires careful accuracy and control. Similar to Exercise #1, this exercise includes multiple cycles of repetitions interspersed with rest breaks to ensure proper training and avoid muscle fatigue.

Exercise #3: Building Endurance

  • Objective: Enhance the muscle's ability to maintain tone for extended periods.

  • Method: Instead of monitoring a graph, users watch a movie (Figure 7A). If muscle tension drops below the required threshold, the movie pauses (Figure 7B). To resume playback, users must increase muscle tension.

  • Importance: While less physically demanding, this exercise is critical for long-term muscle development.

Users can choose any movie or slideshow for this stage. Instructions for selecting media and detailed descriptions of all exercises are available in the MANUAL.

By following this systematic training program, users can effectively tone and lift their nasal muscles, restoring a youthful, aesthetically pleasing nasal shape.
