Jowls are sagging folds of skin that form with age along the sides of the jawline.
They are caused by the shifting of subcutaneous fat pockets (fat compartments) under their own weight, a process known as gravitational ptosis. This shifting occurs because facial muscles weaken, losing
the ability of their ligaments to hold the subcutaneous fat in place.
Two key facial muscles play a primary role in the formation of jowls: the zygomaticus (cheek) muscle
and the platysma (neck) muscle. To prevent jowls or reduce their appearance, you must restore both volume and tone to these muscles. Because of this, the training program consists of two steps. Within
a single workout session, you will first train the zygomaticus muscles, followed by the platysma muscle.
